| | | Coumadin and CoQ10
|  We have received a number of questions regarding the use of CoQ10 and Coumadin. Here are some comments from our senior scientist to consider and discuss with your local health care professional.
“Some reports suggest a contraindication of CoQ10, Vitamin E, Garlic, Ginkgo Biloba, Fish Oil, aspirin etc. when undergoing Coumadin therapy. Other studies suggest that CoQ10 is safe when taken with Coumadin. Prudence, however, dictates that anyone on Coumadin therapy – who wants to also take CoQ10, etc. should have his or her prothrombin time** measured every 4 weeks for several months to rule out any adverse reaction.”
**Note: Prothrombin time or "protime" is a method of measuring how well the body clots.
